Scarborough Town Centre has a new look, and it’s being unveiled this Wednesday. The major two-year, $62-million revitalization project overhauled the shopping centre from head to toe.
Nearly every aspect of the mall has been refurbished, including its floors, ceilings, escalators and elevators, entrances, landscaping, lighting system and furniture.
The washrooms have also been improved, and now feature new vanities and mirrors, and touchless water, soap and towel dispensers.
The revamped mall also features a new, more central Customer Service Centre, as well as new digital directories throughout the mall.
I can’t say I’ve ever been to Scarborough Town Centre, but with 240 stores and two food courts, it sounds like it’s worth a visit. Making it even more worthwhile are a few new stores that are rare commodities in the Canadian market.
ONLY, for instance, is a trendy European jeans retailer that only has six locations in Canada, including its new Scarborough Town Centre location. Another new addition is Hot Topic, an American music-inspired accessory store targeted at teens, which now has three Canadian stores. Also joining the mix is Jack & Jones, a European jeans brand for men.
Stop by the mall on November 17 at 4 pm for its Grand Reveal Celebration, where you can be among the first to see its new look. You can also check out its “Planet Santa” Christmas display, which sounds like quite the production, complete with life-sized snow globes, a map of Santa’s flight around the world, and a countdown clock that ticks off the days until Christmas.
