Music fans and fashionistas alike gathered on Queen Street West last week for a celebration of style and tunes.
French Connection launched its Canadian Indie Music Program at its Queen Street store on Wednesday with a lineup of local independent bands, while guests mingled, shopped and nibbled on hors d’oeuvres and cocktails.
Emerging Canadian bands to take the stage included: Dinosaur Bones, Freedom or Death, Carleton Stone, Young Empires and The Balconies.
Many of them clad in French Connection’s own fashions, each performed short sets on a small stage at the front of the store, earning enthusiastic applause from the crowds within.
It’s nice to see retailers supporting local talent, and its impressive that this type of initiative comes from an international company like French Connection.
By getting this involved in the local scene, French Connection proves that its not only here to to do business, but that it cares about the customers it serves and the communities where it operates.
Wednesday’s performers graciously thanked the retailer for hosting the event, and loud cheers from the crowd suggested that guests were equally as grateful to be included.
